What coaches and players say about roles, minutes, gameplans and development.
Coach wants Tyson and Watson to be more aggressive playmakers beyond Harden and Mitchell.
“we need more playmakers besides him and Donovan, right? We have to encourage the Jaylon Tyson, the Peyton Watson, our role players to be more aggressive.”
Mobley took on playmaking and ball handling when teams pressured Mitchell and Harden.
“they took away Donovan and James or tried to take away. And it was almost by default, Evan had to be more of a playmaker. So we ran a lot of those inverted pick and rolls with him. We let him bring the ball up because they were pressuring our two stars.”
Mobley's offense will come within the flow of the system instead of forced touches.
“we don't want to force feed it to him like I think early last year we did that... Evan gets his stuff in the flow of the system and again sometimes in some series and against some teams the burden's going to fall more on him.”
Harden faces no minutes restriction because he is durable and manages his body well.
“He's such a durable athlete and he knows how to manage his body so well... with him in particular, I don't see that.”
Tyson is in line for a bigger minutes load this season.
“this year, we're going to need him and count on him to play more minutes.”
