Meleek Thomas checks in around the three minute mark of the first quarter ahead of Porter and Proctor.
“Meleek Thomas about to check into the game around the 3-minute mark of the first quarter. But still notable that he will get run before both Craig Porter Jr. and Tyrese Proctor.”
Proctor was the big standout of Cleveland's training camp.
“Sam Merrill says Tyrese Proctor was the big standout from training camp”
Thomas is learning to impact games through rebounding and deflections plus screen setting and off-ball movement.
“In this training camp, what I'm learning about how to impact the game in many different ways is crashing more, crashing offensive glass, defensive glass more, how I can impact defense by getting more deflections... they know I'm sprinting corners, they know I'm a reliable screen setter, I'm in more actions, I can come off of flares.”
Thomas's defense has been impressive but he still has a lot to learn guarding.
“Something that's impressed me is his ability on defense... he's trying to be one of the better defenders out there... He's getting foul calls on the defensive end. You know, he still has a lot to learn in terms of guarding somebody.”
Thomas stands out for his shooting and confidence after making a bunch of shots today.
“Definitely shooting. He can really shoot it. And then you combine that with the confidence that he had. Like, he had a really good day today. He made a bunch of shots today.”
