The Lakers wings keep impressing defensively with activity and deflections.
“Adou Thiero, Matisse Thybulle and Jake LaRavia (and Ziaire Williams who is out tonight) all continue to impress on the wings defensively. Activity, pressure, hands, deflections. All without a traditional low man. Adding Walker Kessler to the backline will be interesting.”
The Lakers botched both scripted opening plays and got off to a poor start.
“When you draw the first play and then you give them a second play that is a play that's been scripted for 10 days or whatever it's been and they don't run either correctly... you're not ready to play. And so, I just think that got us off to a poor start.”
Redick still expects the Lakers to meet their standards while missing stars and depth.
“We've had a handful of these games as a coach where you're missing star players. You're missing a lot of your depth. And I still expect to win, and I still expect us to play to our standards. And that first half did not meet my expectations, and I let them know that.”
The Lakers haven't had time to cover post splits but will before the 21st.
“The post splits, like, you've guarded that pretty well in the past... We haven't had time to go over that. We'll go over that before we play the next and we'll go over that again a bunch before we play them on the 21st. So some of that stuff was to be expected, but not being attached to bodies and point switching, that's not our defense, that's not our practice.”
Los Angeles made the right play consistently and it helped teammates.
“We consistently did the right play and the right play helped our teammates.”
