Edey looked very rusty after going about nine months without playing in games.
“Oh, obviously very rusty. You can see that he hasn't played in, what are we talking about, nine months? Maybe. Hasn't played in games.”
Memphis kept Edey's preseason usage limited out of caution.
“The Grizzlies wanted to be cautious with Zach Edey's usage in the preseason.”
Edey's outing was the best-case scenario Memphis planned and nothing got in the way.
“This was pretty much the best-case scenario that we had planned, and there was nothing that prevented us from going there.”
Edey's rim protection and rebounding are what the group can use while his offense can still grow.
“Defensively, if we start there, we saw some of his impact last season, starting with the rim protection and different types of scenarios, rebounding on both ends, something that this group can really use from him. Offensively, he can still expand his game and he can get better in the games he already does well, but he can also expand his game.”
Edey sits out tonight as expected after finishing a full on-court workout.
“Grizzlies starting unit … Edey, as expected, sitting out tonight but just completed a full on-court workout.”
