Toronto is deliberately funneling the ball to Kawhi so teammates learn where he wants to be.
“Intentionally we're focusing right now more to get, get, get a ball to him so other guys can get used to him, where, where he needs to be on the board, what he's going to be doing, how he's going to be finding his teammates.”
Toronto's pace holds steady when Kawhi sits and the team wants to run with him in transition.
“when he's not on the floor, in terms of pace and running, nothing should really change there... Kawhi last season, he was one of the best players in the field goal percentage in transition. So we gotta take advantage of that”
Toronto wants a defensive team that plays with pace and Shead and Walter fit.
“Defensive, and with pace, and with running. And I think all of those guys, they fit that mold. They fit Jamal and Jacoby and CMB in particular.”
Toronto plans to give Kawhi space and good screens to play his own game.
“We've got to provide him space, we've got to provide him good screening, we've got to put him in positions that he can be himself.”
