Coaches and Lillard are urging Morant to stay aggressive and look for his own scoring in Portland.
“talking with the coaches last night today and then with Dame yesterday, they were telling me to stay aggressive. Obviously when I'm playing like me, it opens up a lot more on the floor for everybody else.”
Starters' playing time on the back-to-back is undecided.
“It's still to be TBD... if you play some of them, sit some of them at the opposite times, just more minutes for more guys, and it gives us a chance to look at different combinations.”
Portland plans a normal first half rotation and a second half stint for everyone with many players near 18 to 20 minutes.
“My guess is they'll probably play a normal first half rotation, like minute-wise, and then probably everybody will get one stint in the second half. So you're probably looking at... a majority of guys between 18 to 20.”
Scoot is pegged as a Westbrook type who attacks the paint and kicks out.
“I kind of look at him as a Russell Westbrook-type player, where he can be very dominant on both sides of the floor. He can also impact the glass... Just play with pace, attack gaps, attack the paint, kick out from there, make sure you get your finishing.”
Portland will mix up preseason lineups and wants key players logging more minutes together.
“I think I'll mix them up... because there's only four preseason games now... we need our guys to play more minutes together in the preseason just so we can see it against different jerseys.”
