Jerome earned his opportunity by working hard through last season's calf injury and rebuilding afterward.
“Ty has created his own success, not just by having a great summer of practice and a great preseason of practice, but also working through whole last season very hard to first get back from the calf injury and then keep himself, like rebuild him after that injury later in the season. So he's put himself in a really good situation to have this opportunity. And he plays with a ton of confidence and he feels that himself, he feels that from the coaching staff.”
Memphis has defended transition well because of its discipline and commitment to sprinting back and matching up.
“We've also done a great job with transition defense, which is, let's call it an anomaly. That's not typical because usually when coaches think about, they think about it as a spectrum where if you put more resources in one, then you're going to give up on the other one. But our guys discipline, the commitment to each other, to sprinting back, to matching up has been great in those situations.”

Morant carries less load now and doesn't have to tax his body.
“Obviously, it was a lot more pressure on me then than it is now. I was the head of a snake. Now I don't have to go out and tax my body or do anything too much with the guys I got.”
Morant didn't want to leave and the move wasn't his call but he feels good now.
“Obviously, a fresh start is always good, like I've been saying. Obviously, I didn't want to leave. It wasn't up to me, but I'm in a good place now.”
The game is starting to slow down for Morant after his injury layoff.
“you can see the game is starting to slow down from him, even from the preseason when he, just from the layoff that he had had from his injury. And I think now everything is kind of in slow motion for him.”
