Clingan is almost certain to start while Williams plays a lot with the smaller lineups.
“I'm almost 99% sure just because of minutes and all that stuff with Rob that Donovan's going to start. But Rob's going to be playing an awful lot with all those smalls.”
Williams' return matters because he and Clingan are both good drop defenders.
“Getting Rob back was so important to us in my opinion is because not only is Donovan a really good drop defender so is Rob.”
Clingan's role leans on screening and rolling to finish lobs and pocket passes rather than posting up.
“He struggled a little bit, like just one on one post up. And that's not necessarily his game. But I think where he makes a huge impact is screening, rolling, and then whether he finishes a lob or a pocket pass.”
Clingan has trained with ladders and footwork drills and goes one on one against guards.
“Just doing, like, ladders, working on a different footwork. Really, the biggest thing is, you know, having a guard play one-on-one and just trying to stop them... try to, you know, stay in front of the ball.”
Clingan faces more pressure to block shots at the rim and talk to the perimeter.
“More pressure on me at the rim to block more shots. More pressure on me to communicate more to the guards, to the wings on the perimeter.”
